There’s a season for everything, even the spookiest of holidays. If you’re looking to celebrate Halloween in Orlando and have fun with your friends or family members, here are some ideas on where to go that will appeal to all ages – no matter what age group you fall into.

The “halloween horror nights 2022” is a special event that takes place every year in Orlando. The event is for EVERY age group, and has been going on since the 1990s.

We made it through Halloween in Orlando and are still alive to tell the story! If you chance to be in the United States between September or October, you’re in for a treat… or a trick.

Starting at the end of the summer season, the major theme parks go all out to celebrate the spooky holiday with various Halloween-themed special events, in addition to regular Orlando Halloween events (such as local children playing trick or treat in their own neighborhoods and some private houses decorated with pumpkins and banners). Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, which has been operating at the theme park for nearly 30 years, is the largest and most complex of the Halloween events in Orlando. This high-production scarefest is great for adults, but only youngsters above the age of 13 should see it.

TOP TIP: Tickets for the 2022 HHN event have just gone on sale, so act quickly!

That isn’t to say that younger children can’t have a ‘American-style’ Halloween in Orlando. This year, Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Peppa Pig Theme Park, and other theme parks will all be having Halloween parties; which one is ideal for you and your group?

Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is not just one of the most wonderful Halloween events in Orlando; it’s also the pinnacle of the Florida calendar for thrill-seekers and movie enthusiasts. Halloween Horror Nights returns to its blockbuster form in 2022, with 10 haunted houses/mazes filled with over 3000 live’scareactors’ out to get you, five scary shock zones, and two live shows, after a decreased offering in recent years owing to Covid-19.

There has never been a better time to scream your head off than this year, as Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights runs for a record-breaking 43 nights. The event is individually ticketed and takes place in the evening, therefore it is not included in your Universal Orlando daytime admission. During the festival, several rides, such as Hollywood’s Rip Ride Rocket, Jurassic Park Velocicoaster, and Revenge of the Mummy, remain open. Halloween Horror Nights is a Halloween celebration in Orlando, complete with an electric atmosphere, food and beverages supplied from pop-up booths, and a wild street-party ambiance. It’s not to be missed — it’s fantastic.

The event will take place from September 2nd through October 31st, 2022. Ticket prices start at £59 per person. Ages 13 and over are recommended. No, costumes are not permitted. Where to stay: Universal Orlando features eight hotels, all of which provide complimentary shuttle service to the Universal theme parks. The Aventura Hotel, a boutique-style hotel with a New York flair and a rooftop bar, is a terrific alternative for adults. The new Universal’s Endless Summer, Dockside Inn and Suites is presently providing excellent offers beginning at £69 per night for larger parties.

Where to take smaller children to enjoy Halloween in Orlando:

BOO BASH AT WALT DISNEY WORLD is a Disney after-hours event.

If you have younger visitors in your group, Disney handles Halloween in Orlando with a much more family-friendly touch. The Disney After-Hours BOO Bash is an opportunity to visit Magic Kingdom Park after normal park hours and participate in a festive Halloween Disney celebration. Around the park, there is Halloween-themed music and garlands. Characters dressed up in Halloween costumes will come for photo ops and parade around the streets in eerie cavalcades. The Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade and fireworks extravaganza, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, are expected to return this year, as well as the fantastic Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular production, which will be presented on the castle stage. For the occasion, Cinderella Castle will be lighted up in her autumn colors. Trick or Treating ‘candy stations’ located around the park dole out delicious goodies for your bucket, allowing kids to collect their free candy.

This is not a Halloween Horror Night-style event; rather, it is more akin to an old-school Halloween party. Consider ‘cute youngsters in witches hats’ (or ears) rather than’murderous undead with chainsaws.’ However, the BOO Bash is a separate paid event, with admission to the park beginning at 7 p.m., but the real ‘bash’ does not begin until 9 p.m., which is still late for pre-schoolers.

Adult and kid costumes are permitted, and Magic Kingdom Park attractions that operate during the celebration typically include Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, and, of course, the Haunted Mansion. Because the event’s capacity is limited, it’s also a terrific chance to ride some of the most popular attractions with little to no wait.

Dates of the event: Various nights between August and October Ticket prices start at £99 per person. Your usual Walt Disney World entry ticket does not include this. All ages are recommended. Yes, costumes are permitted. Guests above the age of 14 are not permitted to wear full face masks. Where to stay: There are around 25 hotels in Walt Disney World, all of which provide complimentary transportation to the Disney theme parks. Where you stay will mostly depend on your preferences and money, but we recommend Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter resort, which is modeled after New Orleans, which is claimed to be America’s most haunted city. You might also stay outside of the Walt Disney World property. We stayed at both a villa resort and serviced apartments, both of which were just 15 minutes away from Magic Kingdom.

This is one of the newest Halloween attractions in Orlando, although SeaWorld Parks has been terrifying visitors for 20 years at its sister park, Busch Gardens in Tampa. SeaWorld’s Howl-o-Scream, which is finally coming to Orlando for Halloween, will include horrifying Haunted Houses with live actors, psychedelic shock zones, and a monster-themed live entertainment. While the park is filled with horror, you may ride some of SeaWorld’s most thrilling roller coasters, like as Ice Breaker, Mako, and Manta.

The event will take place from September 9th through October 31st, 2022. Tickets are available at Prices are subject to change. Recommended for ages 13 and up No, costumes are not permitted.

Where to stay: A number of SeaWorld partner hotels are available, including the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld and the Hilton Garden Inn at SeaWorld. You may also stay at a villa resort in Kissimmee, which is close by.

In addition to the more adult-oriented event, SeaWorld has a long-running Halloween Spooktacular daytime event that takes place on various nights throughout September and October.

SeaWorld has long been a major Halloween fan, and the park’s Spooktacular has been running since 2008. The wonderful, family-friendly celebration includes daytime trick-or-treating, fall dance parties, a joyful Halloween labyrinth, costume competitions, and (animal-safe) face painting, and is included with your daily SeaWorld entry. Throughout the day, Sesame Street characters make appearances, and you may even meet a mermaid! Guests of all ages are welcome to dress up in costumes.

The event will take place from September 10th through October 31st, 2022. Tickets are included in the price of park entrance. Admission at SeaWorld begins at £145 for a two-park package that includes Busch Gardens or Aquatica. All ages are recommended. Is it okay to dress up: Yes, although attendees aged 13 and over are not permitted to wear full-face costume masks.

Where to stay: In addition to the SeaWorld partner hotels listed above, the park is conveniently located near the Universal Orlando Resort, which has several wonderful family-friendly hotels as well as some incredibly budget-friendly alternatives. Endless Summer Surfside Inn features exceptional value family rooms that sleep up to six people, while Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort has its own lazy river.

Legoland Florida, a separate theme park with a fantastic Halloween celebration, is another option. Despite the fact that Legoland and Peppa Pig Theme Park are about an hour’s drive from Orlando’s tourist regions, this park is definitely worth a visit and quite popular with both younger people and Lego lovers. Children’s coasters, water rides, and laser games are among the park’s family-friendly activities, as are chances to meet your favorite Lego characters.

During the Halloween season, Legoland Florida hosts a unique event called Brick or Treat, which is included in your regular admission ticket. A fancy-dress competition for youngsters, a trick-or-treat route with free candy, two live acts, and a fireworks display are all part of the festivities. This laid-back Halloween celebration is great for the whole family and a great deal, so it’s definitely worth the trip down to Winter Haven.

The event will take place on certain weekends between September 24th and October 30th. Tickets are included in the price of park entrance. The cost of a one-day ticket at Legoland Florida begins at £70. A combination ticket with Peppa Pig Theme Park is also available. All ages are recommended. Is it okay to dress up: Yes, although attendees aged 13 and over are not permitted to wear full-face costume masks.

Where to stay: Legoland Florida currently offers two excellent hotels that are suited for overnight stays by families. The original Legoland Hotel offers complimentary breakfast and parking, as well as children’s treasure hunts and nighttime entertainment.

Peppa Pig Theme Park has not yet announced any special Halloween activities for 2022. For fresh Orlando updates, travel ideas, and more, follow us on Instagram and Facebook. In our Orlando: Outside the Theme Parks essay, we discuss what else there is to do in Winter Haven.
