Just 30 miles from Asheville, between Great Smokey Ridge and Blue Mountain Ridge, lies the picturesque town of Waynesville, North Carolina. With the proximity of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisga Forest and Asheville, Weynesville is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday in the mountains of North Carolina. If you want to travel for a weekend or a week, Wainesville has plenty to keep you busy!
Wainesville Company, NC.
Follow Blue Ridge on highway.
One of the best ways to spend a day in Wainesville is to take the Blue Ridge Parkway. Regardless of the season you visit, you will find nothing but great views. Of course, in autumn, when the leaves take on a beautiful colour, but you won’t be disappointed if you get the chance to discover the beauty of this mountain range.
Throughout the trip there are many stops where you can walk, see a waterfall or just relax in the glory of nature.
Wainesville Trace Public Art
The Waynesville Public Art Commission organized an interactive, self-guided tour of the beloved city of Waynesville. All art objects are outside, so it’s easy to bridge social distances and stay safe.
Visit downtown Wainesville for shopping.
You can easily walk around all day in the various shops on the main street. You’ll find everything from antiques to handmade soaps.
Here you will find local favourites such as the Mast General Shop and unique boutiques offering a wide range of handicrafts.
Treat your puppies to a treat at Smokey Mountain Dog Bakery, which has some of the best dog treats I’ve ever seen. And while this place is a bakery, it also offers almost everything you can imagine when it comes to spoiling your puppy. Take the time to explore the store and don’t forget to bring your dog bag with treats.
Stop off at the Dillsborough Chocolate Factory for a little pampering. You’ll see they have fudge, stuffed hard chocolate, truffle and shooter. They even have boxes of chocolates, which are samples of some of their most popular delicacies, in case you are looking for a gift.
Getting beer from the Bujum Taprum brewery
The Boojum Brewery makes one of my favorite beers in North Carolina, the Dogs of Hell. If you have the opportunity to participate, write the project. Alternatively, you can also buy banks to go to!
Boojum has a nice terrace at the back where you can sit and have a pint, and if they serve food, you can eat while you’re there.
Take a ride along the roof track
On the way to Wainesville you will notice that many buildings have a large painted square ceiling that hangs in front of the entrance. These ceiling paintings are a symbol of comfort, family and society.
Take your time on the blanket track, where you can see up to 48 blanket samples in Heywood County.
Daytrips from Wainesville
Wainesville has a lot to do, but you have to find time to visit other places that are only minutes away! Two of our most popular destinations nearby are Asheville and Cherokee. Both are a 30-minute drive away.
Ashville, the largest city near Wainesville, is one of the best tourist destinations in the state. Ashville is fairly easy to reach from Wainesville, just 30 minutes away. You can take a day trip to Ashville to explore the eclectic city centre or the beautiful Biltmore Manor.
If you want to know more about the history of the Cherokee tribe or if you want to play, you should make a trip to Cherokee, North Carolina. Cherokee – a town located on the territory of the Cherokee Nation Oriental Orchestra Reserve. As this is a reservation, gambling is allowed and Cherokee Harra Casino is open to the public. History buffs will want to take the time to watch the drama Unto These Hills, which is performed in open air theatre.
