As far as the beach villages in the south are concerned, one of our favourites is Hilton Head in South Carolina. It’s a great place to relax, but there are also good places to go if you want to learn history or have fun with the locals. If you’re looking for a job at Hilton Head, we have some great ideas on how to spend your time!

Colin Beach Park

One of the places you will definitely want to visit in Hilton Head is Coligny Beach Park.

This public access to the beach has facilities such as toilets, showers, changing rooms, rocking benches and rocking chairs. There’s even free Wi-Fi.

Just a few steps from the beach you will also find places to eat and shop!

The beaches at Hilton Head are beautiful and it’s easy to see why they are recognized as one of the best beaches in the United States.

White sand grows in the dunes, green grass in the pampas and soft waves break on the shore.

Port city

One of the most popular activities at Hilton Head is a trip to Harbour Town, located in the seaside resort of Sea Pines. There are charges for the journey to the station, but it is the price of the car. When you enter, you can park and walk in Harbourtown.

You will find shops, cafes and of course the famous PGA golf course where the RBC Heritage Tournament is held.

Visit to Port Beacon

The harbour lighthouse is at the level of the yacht’s swimming pool and overlooks the 19th century. Gross. The beacon is open for study. Here you’ll find exhibitions on the history of Hilton Head Island and stunning views of the surrounding area.

The lighthouse is open from 10 a.m. until sunset and costs $4.95 per person (free for children up to 5 years old).

One of the most popular restaurants at Hilton Head is the Salt Dog. This coastal restaurant in Haburtaun is a rite of passage.

Make sure you keep the cooler next door in the Salt Dog Ice Cream Factory. There are plenty of seats outside, and if you go there at the weekend, you can even listen to a live band for as long as you like!

Be sure to visit the Salt Dog T-Shirt Store to buy a t-shirt (or two). Not only will you find a good selection of products for Salt Dog, but also 2 pet parrots living in the shop!

Visit to the Coastal Discovery Museum

Located on the former Honey Horn Plantation, one of the only remaining plantations on Hilton Head Island, it includes historic buildings, wetlands and educational exhibits on the history of the lowlands.

Discovery House. The Discovery House is the oldest building on this site, built in 1859. It contains various exhibitions, including changing temporary exhibitions.

While we were there, they organized an exhibition about pirates, horsemen and buccaneers. This exhibition explains the history of pirates in the lowlands.

Take the road for a walk along the 75 mile long path that crosses the site. Throughout the hotel you will see salt forest walks, butterfly blankets, heritage garden, family cemetery and a number of historic buildings.

Hilton Head Mansions.

One of the most beautiful things about this museum is that it is located on the Sound and that it gives you the opportunity to admire the nearby estuaries.

Chapel of Sion and Mausoleum of Baynard

If you want to see the oldest building on Hilton Head Island, you don’t have a problem with the location! Not far from William Hilton Park is a small cemetery on a sandy ground in the shade of oaks.

Zion Hilton runs the market of the cemetery.

The memorial plaque at the entrance to the cemetery dates from the church, which was built until the middle of the 18th century. The Zion Chapel of the Light Cemetery was located here in the middle of the 19th century: The chapel of St. Luke’s parish, founded on the 23rd. May 1767.

Although the chapel was destroyed in 1868, the cemetery and the mausoleum of Beinard (Beinard was the local owner of the plantation) remained.

Take your time to see what’s left, including the graves dating back to the War of Independence.

Mitchellville Historic Freedom Park

The historic Mitchellville Liberty Park is located in the former Drayton Plantation and is reminiscent of the first autonomous city of freed African slaves in the United States.

During a visit to this historical site you will learn how the former slaves lived in their new state of freedom and how they formed their own government based on their ideals.

It can also be said that some of their main buildings, such as shops and places of worship.

Throughout the year you will find various programs and activities, from games to children’s stories.

Bluffton Church

Switching to bluff tone

Bluffton is a charming town just a short drive from Hilton Head and well worth exploring! You will find a charming city centre with excellent restaurants, shops in the old town and one of the most historic churches in the Netherlands near the river Mai.

Hilton Head Island

Although the beach is the main attraction of this coastal town, you shouldn’t make the mistake of missing out on all the other great things at Hilton Head.
