Recently, the cruise line Royal Caribbean said it will begin randomly selecting passengers to participate in a test of stateroom Internet access on its new ships. The announcement was made last week. The project is a first for Royal Caribbean, which is known for its cutting-edge ships and experiences.

Royal Caribbean is rolling out a new travel practice to select passengers for new cruise ship voyages. The cruise line will randomly select passengers for voyages years into the future, but says it will hold off on sending passengers on any upcoming voyages until the trial is complete. The company will select passengers from a pool of around 1.1 million passengers, all of whom have previously cruised the company’s ships. The selection process will take place in three waves, the first of which will begin in January 2019.

Good news for those who took the time to sign up as a Volunteer of the Seas for Royal Caribbean’s simulated cruises. The cruise line is going to randomly select people, and there’s still time to take a chance if the cruise has long been planned.

It’s time for the sea volunteers!

Royal Caribbean offers many mock flights, and the cruise line announced it would begin randomly selecting volunteer passengers this week. The decision comes after more than 350,000 people responded last year expressing interest in becoming test passengers.

Cruise Line created the Volunteers of the Seas Facebook group last year due to the interest and popularity of the cruise simulation. A sign-up page was created where people could register their details in the hope of being selected.

Marine Volunteer Application

Royal Caribbean has decided to continue selecting volunteers, but to close the application page. Persons 18 years of age or older may apply only through the end of the 13th grade. July. declares Cruise Line:

Now is the time! After receiving an incredible 350,000 responses last year from people interested in volunteering for Royal Caribbean Seas, this week we will be sending out random invitations to registered volunteers to participate in upcoming simulated cruises. If you have submitted an application, please keep an eye on your email over the next few days and follow the discussion on this page. We wish you good luck and hope to welcome you on board soon!

The simulated navigation will not resemble a normal cruise. Medical personnel from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will be on board to evaluate cruise lines’ protocols and procedures. The logs are subjected to a stress test and if they pass, the cruise ship is issued a conditional license by the CDC.

Freedom of the Seas and Serenade of the Seas are the first ships to make a simulated voyage. Freedom of the Seas has already received her certification and is currently departing Miami, Florida with paying passengers.

With more test flights on the horizon, the cruise line needs more volunteers. Seven other ships, including three of the Oasis class, will depart on test cruises in the coming weeks. The Serenade of the Seas has just completed her trial voyage in Alaska and is expected to be certified soon.
