The arrival of Odyssey of the Seas to the Caribbean royal family is a welcome breath of fresh air. The ingenuity, passion and hard work of our dedicated crew, shore team and partners at Meyer Werft who have invested in the construction of a new ship is always a sight to behold, said Michael Bayley, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
We look forward to offering the unforgettable vacation we are known for today on a ship that will mark several firsts for us, from establishing the first homeport in Israel to launching the Quantum Ultra class in North America. Later in the day, fans will have a front row seat to the premiere on Facebook, a first for the cruise line. The program includes a blessing of the ship led by Seamen’s Home in Port Everglades, a performance by the Two70 troupe aboard Quantum of the Seas in Singapore, and officials from Royal Caribbean in Florida and Meyer Werft in Germany. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. and on the Royal Caribbean Facebook page.
Odyssey is the second ship from the Quantum Ultra class to begin its first sailing season from Israel this summer. Residents of Israel can take a three- or seven-day trip in October to places like Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos, Athens and Cyprus.
Following her inaugural season, the Odyssey will sail to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to begin a schedule of six to eight overnight cruises in the Caribbean.
