Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has announced the opening of the 202-room Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, located in New Orleans’ Central Business District at the corner of Poydras and Tchoupitoulas streets. Guests can book rooms now for opening day, May 11. 2021, marks the return of the brand after a 16-year absence from the Crescent City.

The Kimpton Hotel Fontenot, inspired by Creole fiddler Canray Fontenot, is a tribute to the history and musical heritage of New Orleans. Jessica Malecki will serve as the hotel’s general manager. Most recently, she was general manager of W New Orleans; before that, she was director of operations at Westin Hotels & Resorts.

Several pieces of art will be on display in the hotel lobby, including a butterfly installation by Paul Willinski behind the front desk, hand-painted violins by Austrian artist Georg Bauss, and an installation of bagpipes and trombones in memory of King Oliver and Louis Armstrong adorning the wall.

The Kimpton Hotel Fontenot will offer two restaurant and cocktail concepts led by Executive Chef Chris Lusk and General Manager of Restaurant and Bar Jessica Retief. Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats is a neighborhood coffee shop that offers a full range of adult coffees, teas, espressos and creative iced drinks, as well as a variety of take-home treats. The Peacock Room will have a cocktail program and a menu of local flavors. Guests can expect a daily social hour and regular performances by local musicians and artists.
