The RBC Heritage Hilton Head Golf Tournament is an annual PGA Tour event held on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This year marks the 53rd anniversary of the Heritage Tournament, which began as the Heritage Classic and is the only PGA Tour event in South Carolina.

Where does RBC Heritage play?

The RBC Heritage will be played at Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort, one of Hilton Head’s most iconic golf courses. Designed by Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye, the golf course offers spectacular views of the Harbour Town lighthouse and 18-hole marina. The red and white striped lighthouse and yachts of Harbour Town are still included in the heritage coverage.

When is the Hilton Head golf tournament?

The Legacy Tournament traditionally takes place in April, one week after the Masters Tournament. This year’s RBC Legacy will take place from April 12 to 18, 2021.

Traditionally, the opening ceremony and parade begin on 18th Street on Monday morning. Green, practice rounds for the pros on Monday and Tuesday and the RBC Heritage Pro-Am on Wednesday.

The first round of the tournament begins on Thursday. And it continues with the second round on Friday, the third round on Saturday and the final round on Sunday, followed by the trophy presentation on the 18th.

Who’s playing in the RBC Legacy?

In its more than 50-year history, many legendary golfers have participated in the Hilton Head tournament. Past Legacy champions include Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Davis Love III, Greg Norman and many others.

In 2021, the RBC Heritage will play host to the world’s best golfers competing for $7.4 million in prize money and the iconic plaid jacket. RBC Ambassador Dustin Johnson, the world’s highest ranked golfer, is participating in the PGA TOUR at Hilton Head. Highly ranked Rory McIlroy, John Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas are also expected to play.

Defending champion Webb Simpson, PGA Tour Pro Matt Kuchar and other Team RBC ambassadors are expected to attend. Other former champions such as Jim Furyk, Graeme McDowell and Brandt Snedeker are expected to compete for the chance to win a new Scottish jacket. Famous golfers such as Billy Horschel, Charles Howell III, Louis Oosthuizen and Cameron Smith have also participated in the RBC Legacy in recent years.

The Hilton Head PGA tournament will be broadcast on Golf Channel and CBS Sports. Dates and times for each network will be confirmed closer to the tournament date:

    • Thursday and Friday, 15:00 to 18:00 EST
    • Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST.
  • CBS Sports:
    • Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. EST.

Those who want to experience the Heritage PGA Tour event in person: the 2021 tournament will host a limited number of people and tickets are expected to sell out. Professional advice: With the logistics of a golf tournament in a port city, traffic and parking for the tournament can be an issue. There is no general parking for spectators at Sea Pines. It’s best to take a special parking and shuttle service from the Coastal Discovery Museum on the north side of the island. A designated Uber and taxi stand at The Shops at Sea Pines during tournament hours (which is just steps from the tournament entrance at the golf club).

If you live near Coligny Beach or Sea Pines, it’s only a short bike ride to Harbourtown and there is a dedicated bike park next to the Harbour Town Golf Links Clubhouse parking lot for the tournament.
