After a number of people became sick due to carbon monoxide poisoning, the cruise line is looking into additional safety measures.

The “carnival freedom itinerary change” is a change that has been made to the Carnival Cruise Line. The cruise line has released an update on the changes that will be made to four ships.

Carnival Cruise Line Provides Update on Itinerary Changes for Four Ships

Guests booked on voyages aboard four separate ships on eleven different sailings would be affected by multiple adjustments, according to Carnival Cruise Line. The modifications follow a slew of itinerary alterations over the previous several months as ships reposition themselves in different cruise zones.

Carnival Extravaganza in Alaska, Miracle at the Carnival in Alaska, Carnival enchantment with a new port on one of its East coast journeys, and Carnival Mood in the Bahamas have all been impacted by the latest round of modifications.

Carnival Cruise Line Ships’ Itineraries Have Changed

Carnival has informed customers and travel advisers that four distinct ships’ itineraries have been modified. The 11 cruises that have been impacted are scheduled to depart between May 2022 and November 2023. Carnival has not given an explanation for the modifications.

Carnival Extravaganza, Carnival enchantment, and Carnival Mood all feature small adjustments. The most adjustments are for Miracle at the Carnival cruises, which had eight distinct Alaskan sailings modified.

Carnival Extravaganza

On May 2, 2022, it will be the first cruise in Alaska for Carnival Extravaganza and the first cruise since the global operation pause. There has been a slight change to the time in port for Juneau. The ship was scheduled to stay in Juneau until 8 PM but will now leave at 5 PM.

The ship will also visit Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Ketchikan, and Victoria, British Columbia, on her maiden journey in almost two years.

Carnival enchantment

Carnival enchantment will be sailing to Saint John, New Brunswick, on July 13, 2023. Instead of sailing to the Bahamas, this cruise will now be a four-night Canada & New England voyage.

Sailing from New York’s Manhattan Cruise Terminal, Carnival enchantment will be spending a day at sea, a day in Saint John, New Brunswick, and another day at sea before returning to New York.

Carnival’s decision to sail to Canada rather than Bermuda on this journey remains unknown. Other Bermuda cruises are still on track to go place as planned.

Carnival Mood

Sailing from Mobile, Alabama, on November 11, 2023, Carnival Mood’s 8-day Bahamas cruise has two changes. Instead of visiting Half Moon Cay on November 16, the ship will be here on November 15.

The visit to Nassau, which was supposed to take place on November 15, will instead take place on November 16. On both days, the vessel will arrive in port at 8:00 a.m. and depart at 4:00 p.m.

Bimini and Freeport are among the other ports visited on the 8-day cruise, and passengers will enjoy three full days at sea.

Miracle at the Carnival

The most changes to itineraries are for Miracle at the Carnival. The cruise ship will be based out of San Francisco, California, and sail on 10-day cruises to Alaska.

There have been changes to a total of 8 trips. The amended itinerary for this journey, which departs from San Francisco on May 31, 2022, includes Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria, BC, in that sequence.

Cruises departing from San Francisco, California on April 23, 2023, and September 10, 2023, will visit Sitka, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Ketchikan, and Victoria, British Columbia.

Juneau, Skagway, Icy Straight Point, Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Victoria BC will be visited by cruises leaving from San Francisco, California on May 15, June 12, July 10 and 24, and August 21, 2023.

Is Alaska having a record-breaking year?

It’s unclear why Carnival is changing its schedules so often, particularly in Alaska. This summer, though, Alaska will see a record amount of ships visit the region. Carnival Cruise Line will deploy three ships to the area on its own.

This summer, Alaska’s cruise ship itineraries are jam-packed; on certain days, Ketchikan and Juneau may anticipate up to seven ships in port at once.

Juneau has 639 ship calls booked, Ketchikan has 598 cruise calls scheduled, and Skagway has 474 cruise calls scheduled. For this reason, it’s understandable if Carnival has chosen, or has been requested, to adjust itineraries.

In terms of tourist numbers, if all ships arrive at or near full capacity this summer, as is projected, the state would have a record year. The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) estimates that the ships will carry 1.5 million passengers this summer, which is higher than pre-pandemic levels.
