Flower Shrimp has the sweetest and most delicious shrimp I have ever tasted in the world. You’ll have to cook the shrimp yourself. Don’t worry, it’s simple.
They also sell other seafood and fish, but the selection varies. Sometimes they have the spring rolls that everyone raves about, but they were sold out when I was there. You can call or stop by to see the current menu.
The beach life is wonderful on the Texas coast. Relax and watch the waves and shorebirds. Go fishing, fly kites or get on a bike with big wheels and ride on the beach.

Nice walks on the beach and wave watching. Head to Rockport Pier to enjoy the view from the water’s surface.
Good news. The big blue crab will return in 2021. The last giant sculpture of the blue crab is almost finished.
The first Rockport Big Blue Crab lived from 1957 to 1983. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey destroyed the second version of the giant crab in 2017.
Port Aransas Beach
Less than 20 miles from Rockport is Port Aransas beach, where you can surf, swim and take beach walks. There is a large parking lot next to the pier, but you can also drive your car along the long beach.
Watch out for large ships and watch out for dolphins, which you can sometimes see on the small Port Aransas ferry.
The surprisingly interesting sea creature I saw on the beach on the island of San Jose did not seem ordinary.
The Portuguese army is colorful but dangerous. The Portuguese warship has a unique system for administering poison to predators if someone doesn’t touch it.
Padre National Sea Island
From Port Aransas, take TX-361 South for approximately 30 miles to Padre Island National Seashore.
Padre Island is popular for bird watching, fishing and beach camping.
People from all over the world flock to the Texas coast to watch birds. Bring binoculars and a camera with a good telephoto lens to capture the memories.
Aransas National Reserve
With over 115 acres of protected land, it offers many opportunities for bird watching. Sage Grouse migrate from Canada to spend the winter months in Texas from November to April.
Drive along the park’s circular road, stopping along the way for bird watching and coastal hiking trails. There are several visualization platforms installed at NWAO Aransas.
Armadillos and alligators are also at home here.
Port Aransas and Charlie’s Pasture Nature Reserve
Coastal Prairie accessible from TX-361 on the south side of Port Aransas. Bring binoculars to observe a large bird.
Joan and Scott Holt Paradise Pond
Behind the San Juan Restaurant in Port Aransas is Paradise Pond, a freshwater wetland with a pond and marsh that is an ideal place for birds.

Tule Creek Hiking and biking trail
The Tule Creek Hiking and Biking Trail is a 1.5-mile concrete path through an oak forest. Fruit set is also developing well along Tooele Creek.

There are hiking trails, fitness facilities, disc golf, a small lake and a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. There are many trees for shade and picnic tables.
Big Tree of Goose Island

The big tree is a huge live oak that is estimated to be over 1,000 years old. In the area you can also watch cranes in the winter months.

Surrounded by a forest of live oaks and open year-round, the Rockport Aquatic and Skate Park is the perfect place to have fun in the great outdoors of Rockport. The park has an 8-lane heated swimming pool, a diving area, a children’s pool, a playground and a large skateboard park.
