School of the World
Location: Jaco, Costa Rica
The School of the World was founded in 1997 and combines elements of a boutique hotel, surf camp, language school, yoga retreat, and photography workshop under one roof. The school is located just a few blocks from the year round warm waters and consistent waves of the central Pacific coast, and the entire school schedule is planned around the tides so that everyone can enjoy surfing, Costa Rica’s favorite pastime.
The custom designed facility, with tropical Asian style architecture, is filled with artistic details including handmade ceramic sinks, custom furniture, tropical hardwoods and bamboo, stained glass, original art, and lush gardens. Every week is a different mix of guests of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds. School of the World offers four programs that run all year round (Surfing, Spanish, Yoga, and Digital Photography) as well as some specialty workshops throughout the year. These include surf training, yoga and wellness workshops, digital darkroom photo editing, fashion and beauty photography, travel portrait photography, salsa dancing, cooking classes, videography, music, art, volunteer programs, and more.
$375- $2,840 (US$) Programs are offered in 1, 2, 3 and 4 week durations (Longer durations available upon request.)

The School of the World facility has 12 guest rooms, with both shared room (double) and private room options. Homestays are also available upon request.
Free WIFI, A/C, private bathrooms, refrigerators, and shared kitchen access. Location is in a quiet neighborhood, just a short walking distance from the beach, restaurants, bars, shops, grocery stores, and other attractions.
